Antique ZENITH Cathedral Radio
Model 805
1935
Lucky you! For auction is this gorgeous Zenith cathedral radio - straight out of the 1930's! This is model 805 with serial number 210427. The original owner bought it in 1938, according to the date stamp on the back. This radio is in very good shape.
The 805 was the last cathedral Zenith offered even though a few other manufacturers continued with the style for a year or two more. This little five tube set was a good performer and the two tone finish with black japan trim is quite attractive. Covers BC and one Shortwave band.
This Zenith is solid. When we plug it in, it lights up perfectly. I can't get any stations but then again, I am in a rural area! It has a faint "hum" when turned on.
As you can see from the pictures, it is complete. There are some spots of wear on the finish but there are no gouges, scratches or missing pieces of wood. Everything is all original. The material covering the speakers is in excellent condition! It is gold and shiny, not a run or tear. As far as I can tell without taking it apart, it is not faded either.
The numbers and printing inside the dial are sharp. When you turn the radio on, it lights up. The dial is printed with: SCALE x 1000 = K.C. and MEGA-CYCLES. The top row of numbers range from .55 to 1.6 and are marked "STANDARD BROADCAST". The bottom row of numbers starts at 1.5 and ends at 5.0. They are marked differently. The number 1.7 is marked "POLICE", 2.0 "AMATEUR", 2.5 "POLICE", 3.0 "AVIATION", and 4.0 "AMATEUR".
One of the cool things about this radio is the papers still glued to the inside. I've included pictures. There is a foil sticker listing the patent numbers for that particular working part within the radio. There is another large paper list of patent numbers on the wood inside as well. Lastly, there is an inspection paper inside, glued to the wood. All are from the manufacturer!

Choices, Choices, Choices!
In most all of my auctions, you have a choice between UPS and USPS. This puts the power in your hands! Use the shipping calculator in the listing to compare cost. Simply enter your zip code!
Most times, I offer a "fast" option like US Priority Mail, and a "cheap" option like Parcel Post, Media Mail, or First Class Mail. If you would like to pay extra for a service like UPS Red, please let me know.
My years of selling experience benefit my customers! I have shipped all around the world. Here are some helpful hints:
Sometimes, UPS Ground will be delivered in ONE or TWO days, depending where you live!
Sometimes UPS Ground is cheaper for large items! It's the nature of the beast. UPS is primarily a "package" service. They are equipped to handle the big stuff!
If you do choose US Mail and your package is fragile or of great value consider purchasing the shipping insurance.
Most of my auctions include a shipping and handling fee under $2.50. This helps to cover packing materials and time spent carefully wrapping and packing your item.
If your item is very small, or is not fragile the handling fee is .50¢! I adjust it according to the size in order to save YOU money.
I believe in people and the power of communication. Together, we can work through any issue that may arise.
I will be happy to refund the winning bid price if the item is not as described in the listing. This does not include the shipping cost. You have three days to inspect your purchase and contact me with a problem. Please check your purchase over completely as soon as it arrives.
I will refund you on the day the item arrives in the same condition it was when originally shipped. You will not have to wait!
IF THE ITEM IS DAMAGED OR LOST BY THE CARRIER: We will work together to submit a claim for reimbursement. I'll be actively involved in the process to ensure a smooth and swift resolution.
Your complete satisfaction is my NUMBER ONE priority! Please contact me if there is an issue. I want you to be happy with our transaction!
